Facebook Rumored To Be Launching New Phone

Even if Mark Zuckerberg was on a honeymoon with his newlywed wife this past weekend, it seems like his company was still busying itself with rumored plans of a possible Facebook phone.
After rumors swirled around the social networking giant launching the release of a mobile phone, the recent purchase of Motorola Mobility by Facebook's competitor Google and the release of its IPO set their plans.
"We don't comment on rumor and speculation," a Facebook spokeswoman told MSNBC. "Our mobile strategy is simple: We think every mobile device is better if it is deeply social. We're working across the entire mobile industry; with operators, hardware manufacturers, OS providers and application developers to bring powerful social experiences to more people around the world."
The New York Times reported that several FB employees (on the condition of anonymity) hope to release "its own smartphone by next year."
They also added that the company "already hired more than half a dozen former Apple software and hardware engineers who worked on the iPhone, and one who worked on the iPad,"
Though HTC tried to release its own social phone with a Facebook button, the iPhone and Droid models were the top-sellers
Only time will tell if Zuckerberg takes over the mobile market. Would you cop a Facebook phone?
