13 Yr Old Boy Shot In Front Of His Mother By Neighbor!

Darius Simmons, 13, was shot and killed right in front of his home and his mother last Thursday morning, May 31st, by his 75-year-old neighbor John Henry Spooner. Spooner, a Milwaukee native, claims that he had $3,000 worth of shotguns stolen from his Milwaukee home last week, and he suspected Darius of stealing them.

On Thursday morning, Darius and his mother Patricia, went to pick up a garbage cart in front of his home, when Spooner approached Darius and said that "he wanted his stuff back and that he wanted his shotguns back." Both Darius and his mother told Spooner that they did not take his things. Suddenly without warning, Spooner pulled out a gun, pointed it at Darius, and fired from approximately 5 feet away. Darius tried to flee and Spooner fired at him again. The police later recovered Spooner's weapon and the two shell casings that were discharged on the ground. Darius suffered a gunshot wound to his chest and the bullet severely damaged his heart, before bursting out of his back.

A neighbor named Toni Johnson witnessed Patricia holding her son Darius, as he lau on the ground after being shot.

"I looked out the door and saw the mother kneeling over her boy at the curb, screaming, 'my son!' and the old guy was standing right over there by the stop sign with his dog, just waiting."

According to a man named Alderman Bob Donovan, who is a friend of Spooner's, claims that he had breakfast with him earlier that day, and Spooner told him about his $3,000 worth of missing firearms. He also notified police that he is dying of lung cancer, and that Spooner said something along the lines of "There are other ways to deal with situations that he police can't solve," in regards to his missing guns.

He has since been charged with one count of first-degree intentional homicide for killing Darius right in front of his mother in cold blood.

Another tragic case of people feeling too powerful with a gun in their hand.
