Rock Hill schools announce personnel moves

Black Country Living Museum - St James's Schoo...

— Several Rock Hill schools are getting new leaders as the district shuffles administrators during the summer downtime.
Staffing moves are common for school systems each summer, when contracts are due for renewal and employees retire or change jobs.
Last summer, Superintendent Lynn Moody had six elementary assistant principals swap schools to give them a chance to grow professionally by facing new challenges.
Moody said she doesn’t expect additional job changes this summer beyond hiring to fill positions of people who were promoted.
The school board has already voted on several changes. Here’s a look:
Rosewood Elementary: Stephanie DiStasio, assistant principal for two years, was promoted to principal. Previously, DiStasio taught at South Pointe High. She also taught middle and high school French.
She replaces former Principal Stephen Ward, who will be working in the district's Title 1 office as core content integration specialist.
The Children’s School at Sylvia Circle: Jackie Jones, who was assistant principal at Northside Elementary, will be the Children’s School principal. Jones has been a Northside assistant principal for a year. Previously, she was an assistant principal at Finley Road Elementary for three years. Before that, she taught fifth grade at Independence Elementary.
Jones replaces former Sylvia Circle Principal Sandra Lindsay-Brown, who is moving to Tacoma, Wash., where her husband, Bennish Brown, the former executive director of the Rock Hill/York County Convention and Visitors Bureau, has accepted a similar job.
Finley Road Elementary: Christopher Roorda, assistant principal at Finley Road, will be the school's new principal. Roorda has been an assistant principal at Mount Holly and Oakdale elementaries. Before that, he taught fifth grade at Lesslie Elementary and at Hunter Street Elementary in York. He succeeds Principal Al Bogan, who is retiring.
Oakdale Elementary: Leigh Grier, who taught fifth grade in Richland County District 2, will be assistant principal. She replaces former assistant principal Cassie Cagle, who will be the district’s exceptional student education compliance officer.
Nothwestern High: Anthony Lancaster, a former Chester High assistant principal, will be assistant principal. He replaces Martha McLeod, who is retiring.
District officials said they couldn’t provide salary information for the employees. Salaries won’t be final until state lawmakers pass a budget, which the district will use to determine its final budget, said Rebecca Partlow, Rock Hill schools human resources director.
Everyone starts in their new jobs on July 2.
