Aubrey O'Day is a certified headcase ... so says one of her doctors, who issued the reality star an official medical document which allows her to bring her dogs on to an airplane.

A rep for Virgin America airlines tells TMZ ... the "Celebrity Apprentice" star was cleared to bring her 2 pets into the 1st class section of a flight this week ... because they are registered as "Emotional Support Animals."

So how does one get emotional support animal clearance? Ya gotta have a doctor write a letter ... stating you have mental issues.

According to the Virgin America website, the airline requires the passenger to produce a letter from a licensed mental health professional which substantiates the guest's disability-related need for the animal to accompany them in the aircraft cabin.

V.A. claims the letter must state that the passenger "has a mental health-related disability" ... and that having the animal accompany the passenger is necessary for his or her mental health.

The nature of O'Day's mental health issue is unclear.  We called the starlet for comment.

O'Day tweeted pics of the dogs enjoying themselves on the flight to San Francisco ... and the V.A. rep tells us she was "incredibly sweet and polite" ... and nothing short of a "great guest."

So far, no word back.

Barbara Walters Making Whoopi Goldberg “Crazy” on The View

Barbara Walters is making Whoopi Goldberg so crazy on ‘The View,’” reports the National Enquirer, producers supposedly “had to include 10 paid ‘mental health’ days to keep their loose-lipped moderator from walking away!”
According to a “source” for the tabloid, “Whoopi despises Barbara so much that she almost didn’t sign the new contract.”
Enquirer “insiders” say “the bickering between the women often erupts into heated arguments during commercial breaks,” with one so-called “source” explaining, “Their relationship is so bad right now that on the days Barbara doesn’t come to work, Whoopi sings and dances around the set.”
The mag alleges that Walters and Goldberg’s relationship has been “deteriorating for a few years now,” and that it’s worse with Walters appearing more frequently on “The View.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time the Enquirer has floated this story of problems between the two hosts — and yet the tab’s tales never actually pan out.
Year after year, the magazine pretends to have inside dirt on trouble between Goldberg and Walters, and yet they continue to sign new contracts and work happily side by side.
A rep for the show tells Gossip Cop there’s “absolutely no truth” to the new report of Walters-Goldberg tension, and that it’s a “complete fabrication.”

4:35 PM PT --
A rep for Travolta has issued a statement ... saying, "The lawsuit filed by Robert Randolph is absurd. The suit is based on a privileged communication, and it will promptly be thrown out by the court."

The statement continues, "To evaluate the credibility of Robert Randolph and his ridiculous lawsuit one need look no further than his own statements published on his website stating that he sustained 'permanent brain damage' and had to 'retrain' his brain."

"Mr. Travolta will aggressively defend himself against this lawsuit and expects to be fully vindicated when this meritless case is dismissed."
Travolta's attorney, Marty Singer, also released a statement ... saying, "This is a ridiculous lawsuit.  It is based on our letter which was completely privileged under the law.  We intend to sue the attorneys for malicious prosecution after the court promptly dismisses this baseless lawsuit.”

John Travolta
is being sued by an author who claims Travolta spread lies about his mental health in order to diminish his credibility ... while the author was trying to sell a book in which he claimed he personally witnessed Travolta engaged in gay sex at various bathhouses.

The man behind the lawsuit is Robert Randolph -- who wrote a book entitled, "You'll Never Spa in This Town Again" ... detailing Travolta's alleged sexual exploits with other men, including Randolph.

In his suit, Randolph claims ... as he was releasing his book, Travolta and his high-powered attorney Marty Singer (pictured above) unleashed a P.R. attack ... in which they falsely claimed Randolph had mental issues and spent time in a mental institution.

Randolph claims the attack was concocted to persuade the public that he's an unreliable source ... and they should NOT buy his book. Randolph claims Travolta's plan worked ... and retailers were deterred from selling his book.

Randolph is suing both Travolta and Singer for unspecified damages.

So far, no comment from Travolta. Ditto for Singer.
