Report: Woman flees purse snatcher in Rock Hill

— A Rock Hill woman says a man threatened to hold her at gunpoint while he tried to steal her purse Tuesday afternoon.
The woman, 55, told police that while she was walking on College Avenue around 3:15 p.m., a man approached her from behind, according to a Rock Hill police report.
The man stepped in front of the woman and demanded her purse but the woman refused, the report states. The robber told the woman he had a gun and he began to reach into his waistband.
The woman ran to a nearby house yelling for help. A taxi driver witnessed the man run toward Strait Street and get into a silver Toyota with a North Carolina license plate, the report states.
The woman described her attacker as a black male, between 5-foot-7-inches and 5-foot-10-inches, 130- 140 pounds, with a light colored shirt, dark pants and dark hat.
Rock Hill and Winthrop police canvassed the neighborhood but couldn’t find the man, the report states. The woman wasn’t harmed and none of her valuables were stolen.
