Police: Chester man stabs girlfriend after argument

Police say a Chester man stabbed his live-in girlfriend Monday night after they argued about his constant drinking.
Jimmy Eugene Widener, 52, is charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and is being held at the Chester County Detention Center.
Sheriff's deputies were called to 912 Ashford Road around 9:30 p.m. and found Deborah Waldrop, 49, laying on the floor and Widener in another room, said Maj. Jamie Mitchell with the Chester County Sheriff's Office.
EMS took Waldrop to Chester Regional Medical Center. Her wound wasn't deep, Mitchell said, and she was released from the hospital Tuesday afternoon.
Investigators determined that Widener had been drinking heavily Monday night, leading to an argument between him and Waldrop about his alcoholism. Widener's mother, who owns the house Widener lives in, became involved in the argument and said she wanted Widener to leave her home, Mitchell said.
After his mother left, Widener stabbed Waldrop, Mitchell said.
Officials recovered several knives from the home, but are unsure which one Widener used to stab her, Mitchell said.
